Frequently Asked Questions about Butler

Why choose a pre-engineered metal building?

The traditional advantages of metal building systems have been:

  • Design flexibility — particularly large column-free floor areas,
  • Consistent quality,
  • Speed of construction, and
  • Predictability of costs and completion schedules.

Architects, design professionals and owners have increasingly realized the efficiency in working with these systems. Architects lose none of their creative freedom in combining aesthetically attractive and functional metal systems with conventional building materials. Think of the metal system as a structural system. The exterior surfaces are often wood, stucco, stone, brick or masonry.

How Much Does A Butler Building Cost?

A similar question is "How much does a bag of groceries cost?" The "bill" depends on what is in the bag. Prices vary depending on the design loads and codes, spacing between columns, material finishes, accessories, location, etc.

To obtain a realistic cost estimate, contact CCC. CCC can assist you in developing an efficient building layout, specifications for the facility, and provide a comprehensive proposal including the cost estimate.

Generally, however, if the building shape lends itself to pre-engineered, a Butler Building will have a much lower life-cycle cost and will usually be less expensive than conventional construction.

Tell Me About The Butler MR-24 Standing Seam Roof.

CCC offers our customers Butler’s weather-tight MR-24® roof system, the most specified roof system in the industry. Butler developed the MR-24 roof system in 1969, and today, more than two billion square feet of MR-24 roof is in place worldwide.

The MR-24 roof system boasts the industry's only true 360-degree, double lock seam to assure complete weather-tightness and structural integrity. The panels of most other roof systems may simply snap together or be crimped, leaving them too weak to withstand the stresses of foot traffic or wind uplift. A key difference of the MR-24 roof system is that the final 180 degrees of roof panel seam is machine formed on site as your roof system is installed, assuring the tightest permanent seam available today. This “Pittsburgh” double-lock seam is the same design used to seal soft drink cans and automobile gas tanks. Roof traffic and wind uplift won't bother the MR-24 roof system.

How Long Is The Warranty On The MR-24 Roof System?

The MR-24 roof system is available with a 25-year warranty, not just against perforation but for weather-tightness as well. With reasonable care and maintenance, the MR-24 is your 25-year solution to roof problems. There are even 40-year-old MR-24 roofs in service. The MR-24 roof has absolutely the best warranty in the industry. It is the best roof ever.

How Does Butler's Cost Compare To Other Pre-engineered Buildings?

While other pre-engineered roofing companies focus on their cost and profits, working backward from what the market will bear, Butler's main objective is to build a quality, state-of the-art product and, like any business, to make a profit. The price of a Butler building is based on what it takes to build it: the specifications, complexity and quantities drive the price. For example, a MR-24 roof costs more than a fasten-through Butlerib II roof.

At a customer's request, CCC performed a study that compared the cost of two other nationally known pre-engineered building manufacturers with the cost of the Butler engineered and manufactured product. When all three manufacturers used the same specifications, Butler's cost was 1% higher than one and lower than the other.

While Butler's price may be in the middle, its value is clearly greater. Butler buildings are made to be owned for a long time. Other companies' buildings are made to be SOLD and put up quickly by a subcontractor. Butler buildings go up as fast, but last and last and last. They are designed to be built for you, the owner – not a contractor.
